OUR ACTIVITIES

With the main aim of improving living standards of local residents on the basis of creating jobs with available resources, LDP focuses on the research and transfer of technology, funding for production after harvesting bamboo luong. On that basis, LDP outlines 4 main activities:.

• Technical and financial assistance for bamboo plantation on new areas, heavily degraded land or previously cultivated with cassava or sugarcane for long time, together with technical training for villages, bamboo plantation contracts.
• Promote local experiences and trials of production techniques. By creating local indicators through trials in farmers’ conditions, the project will support nurseries of farmers.
• Institution-building for different actors, partners, especially producers with fair realization of contracts with higher added value for luong growers, support to build small scale preprocessign workshops by contracts with TBF.
• Improve sustainability for interventions by working on environmental aspects, certificates of well managed forests and traceability system.

Phase 2 will be implemented in 4 components
Component 1: Value chain, market for luong and support to local processing workshops, with the following steps:
• Monitoring the value chain and processing activities • Market search and connection
• Capacity building for enterprises owners
• Trial and production of new products
• Optimal use of by-products through production of charcoal

Component 2: Farmers and material zone
• Technical assistance during the whole process
• Diversified assistance for farmers’plantations
• Trials and demonstrations in farmers’conditions
• Development of farmers’groups
• Arrangement of nurseries for easier access

Component 3: Creating favourable environment and preferential policies for luong growers and processors
• Favourable environment of policies for implementation of the project
• Better communication with local actors

Component 4: Knowledge exchange and dissemination of project information and results
• Elaboration and dissemination of documents
• Exchanges, visits and consultancies
